MSA support and maintenance team
Six department members serve as MSA-certified CARE Technicians. These specialists inspect, maintain, test and repair every self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) used by the department so each unit is safe, fully operational and ready for critical incidents.
Advanced equipment and safety compliance
Portage firefighters use modern MSA SCBA units with Bluetooth radio integration, fireground accountability and emergency notification capabilities. The team also conducts annual OSHA-required fit testing for department personnel, reinforcing firefighter safety and regulatory compliance.
Our MSA team consists of 6 department members. They are Certified by MSA as CARE technicians. They repair, test and maintain all of our self-contained breathing apparatus are safe and in working order. Our MSA SCBA are top of the line packs that have bluetooth connectivity to our portable radios. They are also equipped with a fireground accountability and notification systems built. Our team also performs OSHA required fit testing annually to our members.
